China-Finland Psychoanalytic Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Institute-Based Continuous Training Program
Program
The China–Finland Psychoanalytic Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Training is a continuous programme in Nanchang, China, in which Finnish trainers from NIPRT teach psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children and adolescents to Chinese colleagues. It is run with Jiangxi Nanchang Insight Psychological Consulting Co., Ltd. The programme is accredited as continuing education by the Registration System of the Chinese Psychological Society (CPS). The collaboration began in 2020, and teaching started with the first cohort in August 2025. Each cohort trains for two years, and a new cohort starts every August.
The China-Finland Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Training is a two-year international collaboration program that brings Finnish psychotherapy expertise to Chinese colleagues. The program is organized in collaboration with Jiangxi Nanchang Insight Psychological Consulting Co., Ltd.
The training focuses on psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children and adolescents, integrating Finnish psychotherapy research and clinical expertise. Finnish trainers travel to China several times a year for intensive training periods.
The program aims to promote meaningful encounters in psychological health education and deepen cross-cultural understanding between China and Finland.

A Continuously Growing Program
Cohort 1 begins
The inaugural group starts their two-year training. Finnish trainers travel to Nanchang for the first intensive sessions on psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children and adolescents.
Cohort 1 — Year 2 underway
The first cohort deepens their work. Clinical supervision, case work, and cross-cultural exchange continue across the two-year program.
Cohort 2 begins
A new two-year program starts for a second group, while Cohort 1 continues. The program becomes a continuous, living community of practice.
Annual intake
Cohort 3 begins & Cohort 1 graduates
From 2027 onward, a new cohort starts every August as the previous one completes. A growing network of Finnish-trained Chinese psychotherapists.

What approach does it teach?
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children and adolescents. It is not a CAT or integrative programme; NIPRT's integrative child and adolescent programme is a separate training held in Helsinki with the University of Helsinki.
How long is it, and when do cohorts start?
Each cohort trains for two years. Cohort 1 began in August 2025 and Cohort 2 in August 2026. From 2027 a new cohort starts every August as the previous one completes.
How is it taught?
Finnish trainers travel to Nanchang for intensive training periods. Between them the programme continues with online supervision and thematic lectures. Teaching is in English with Chinese interpretation.
